Antrim Times: Paddle power for Eye Feel Good

THE plans for this year’s canoe paddle from Antrim to Castlerock in aid of local charity Eye Feel Good are well underway.

The 2011 expedition will involve 36 paddlers and team mascot ‘Sally’ paddling across Lough Neagh and along the Lower Bann Canoe Trail.

This year’s crew is made up of some old faces from last year, some experienced paddlers and some folks who are new to the world of paddling.

Richard Fee, Eye Feel Good Chairman, said: “I’m really excited about this year’s trip. We have a great mix of people on the trip this year. We have people from every walk of life.”

Mark Kennedy, Eye Feel Good Secretary, added: “We wanted to try and go one step further this year by involving more people and also especially people who had never paddled before. Eye Feel Good is all about fund-raising through fun and adventure and this trip is going to give people the chance to do all of that in three days”.

Day one of the trip will take the paddlers from Antrim to Ballyronan, with day two finishing up in Portna. The final leg of the trip will take the Portna to the finishing point in Castlerock.

This year, the Mobile Team Adventure will be back to support on the expedition.

John Hubbucks, Mobile Team Adventure, said: “What can I say about these guys. Each year they just seem to keep pushing the envelope further. Eye Feel Good’s inclusive thinking towards paddle sports and fundraising is refreshing and inspiring.

“I’m delighted to be working with the guys on this year’s expedition. We have a great group of participants and it’s going to be an amazing trip.”
